OSET Cup South Winter Series Round 5

5th round of the OSET Cup South Winter Series

Round 5 of the KYTC winter series oset cup took place today, Sunday 28th February, in Bennington, Herts, kindly hosted by East Anglia Trials Club. In beautiful winter sunshine 30 keen oseteers turned up to ride 4 laps of the 6 section trial in a bid to pick up some championship points before the final round next month.

Some tough sections saw Daniel Dabreo take his first Blue route win dropping 43 marks with Sophie Bailey hot on his heels dropping 48 marks in 2nd place.

Red route was dominated by the talented Sam Meetan who dropped just 2 marks for the win with his nearest competitor, Josh Dear coming in 2nd with 15 marks dropped. In joint 3rd place on 18 marks a peice was D class national competitors Stefan Richardson and Elliot Smith, who's minder today was Steve Deines, Oset's North American sales manager. 4th and 5th place went to Joe Dear on 48 and Connor Heathfield on 53.

Yellow route saw Josh Gilbert take his first win on this route on 15 marks with Rowan Dean coming in a close 2nd on 19 marks, not far behind George Coombs dropped 25 marks for 3rd place. 4th went to Zach Gilbert on 51 with Oliver white in 5th on 65 marks. In 6th place dropping a very respectable 71 marks on only his second ride on the yellow route was William Sparks.

The three way fight for the Orange route championship continued today with victory going to Freddie Hills who dropped just 1 mark, with his sister Mia Hills a close 2nd on 4 marks. Ruby Jackman just missed out on a joint 2nd after dropping an unfortunate 5 in section 1 taking her total to 9 putting her in 3rd place. Just 10 marks dropped saw the much improved Florence Baldock pick up 4th place and Kieran Lee in 5th place on 19 at only his second trial. Two of our three Oscars were next in 6th and 7th place with Oscar Kirkin on 20 and Oscar Sacre on 26. Talan Nutbrown came in 8th on 54 and Sam Kent 9th on 57. Harry Hunt dropped 66 in 10th place. Joint 11th went to Oscar Keen and Sebastian Murray on 70 marks each with Edie Baldock just 1 mark behind on 71 in 12th place. Our tiny tots on their 12.5" Oset's came in 13th and 14th place with James Hunt dropping 74 and Evie Mai Dear 84 on her very first trial.

A special mention must go to Sam Kent. Sam dropped just 57 marks today which is by far his best score to date, Sam also rode his first clean section, and he didn't stop at one, he rode 7 cleans, an absolutely fantastic achievement. That wasn't the ride of the trial, that was the ride of the series. Sam, you rock!

A huge thank you to East Anglia Trials Club from KYTC and all its members for hosting this round for us at a brilliant venue with some fantastic sections. Final round and prize giving is to be held on March 20th, venue to be confirmed.EATC OSET CUPEATC OSET KYTCEatc Kytc
